La Bienvenue

Et je suis arrivĂ©e!
2 full days of travel and I am here in Martinique.
As the plane flew in, I could immediately spot the sites from my airplane window. Enough time spent on Google Maps helped me recognize exactly where my apartment is. I was able to spot the major hot spots near my new crib: beach, hotel, casino, mall..
Once out the plane doors, it was all french from there. An English teacher from the H.S. picked me up (via sign with my name). She greeted me in English and the second I said "okay, je vous attende ici pendant que vous trouver la voiture," we were frenching it up. Once she drove me to my studio apt, I met the very friendly landlords and we had a little gossip sesh about all the previous assistants that had lived at the apt in the past years (apparently last year's was a bit of a hermit).
There is one week until the orientation for assistants, so I have some time to work on my island tan and see the sites.

Adios Tejas!

What can I say, Texas? It's been a good rum... I mean run. Hehe sorry, Freudian slip. I'll miss the BBQ, beer, 2 stepping bars, and, of course, the tex mex (I love you, tacos! I'll be back in 7ish months). I just gotta go see what else is out there in the world.

Adios USA, hellooooo la isla bonita.

Martinique, France. We shall meet tomorrow.. I'm not gonna lie, I put all my eggs in the one TAPIF  English assistant basket after getting my diploma last December. And I've just been working and waiting and working and waiting (literally: went through 3 server jobs post grad) since then to fly there and do this thing. So let's do it! Get the Caribbean seafood, cocos&rum, and reggae music prepped. This will be a year worth blogging about.
